The Groundhog Show is an annual pop-up art exhibition celebrating NE Ohio LGBTQ+ and ally artists. Popping up next the weekend of June 14, 2024 in downtown Akron. This year the space for the pop-up this year is rather unique, and with that comes a few restrictions. Art will be displayed inside shipping containers, on pedestals/small tables, as well as on fencing. Please note we CANNOT drill into the walls for this pop-up and everything must be able to be installed via magnets or wires if a wall hanging piece. Since the containers are off grid, we cannot supply power to them, so the artist must ensure their piece is battery operated if they have an electrical component. We will have battery-operated lighting.

We are still going to try to showcase as much art as possible, but in this new unique space, we need to place some size restrictions. Size restrictions are split up into three categories. In the submission form, please select which type your piece(s) falls into:

Wall hanging art (Cannot exceed 30" wide x 84" tall)

3D/to be placed on pedestal (Cannot exceed 18" wide x 18" deep x 40" tall) We will have a limited number of pedestals but if you are able to provide your own please note in the "Special Notes" section. 

Digital - to be printed on banner as part of the "digital mural" (Cannot exceed 28" x 28" 300 ppi) 

The “Digital Mural” will consist of horizontal banners that we will be printing, featuring digital art, photography, animation stills, etc. and will be displayed together along the fence of the event space. 

Please note if your art is explicit or features nudity it would need to be featured inside of one of the containers because of how open the space is to the public.

Sales and contracts will go through Summit Artspace- Summit Artspace will collect 30% commission, so price accordingly. Contracts will be sent digitally via email.

If your art is accepted, you are responsible for making sure it gets to the location of the show and picked on the dates listed above. If you are out of town or can’t make it, you can arrange for someone to pick up or drop off on your behalf, but please let us know beforehand.

The Groundhog Show is not liable for any damages or theft of art. Artists must be 18+ years old.
